Features

A permit driving log that stays on your phone

DriveMint records supervised practice for a learner's permit: hours, night driving, and a PDF you can take to the DMV.

No Account, Works Offline

Download and start logging. No signup, no password, no cell service required. Your permit log lives on the phone, not in our cloud.

Supervised Hours, Day and Night

Tap Start when practice begins. DriveMint records time automatically and splits night hours from the rest, using local sunset on your device.

Progress Toward Your State Total

See how many supervised hours you still need, including the night portion. Requirements for all 50 states are built in.

QR Transfer Between Phones

A parent can log a drive on their phone and pass it to the teen with a QR code. The transfer happens on the two screens. No server in the middle.

Private by Design

No tracking, no accounts, no cloud, no ads. Driving records never leave the device unless you export a PDF or a backup file yourself.

GPS Only If You Want It

Turn on GPS to capture distance. Coordinates are used on the phone to compute mileage, then discarded. Time logging still works with GPS off.

Get DriveMint from the App Store or Google Play. There is no account to create. Open the app and you can log a drive.

STEP 02

Start a supervised drive

Tap Start when practice begins. Time is logged on the phone. GPS distance is optional. Night minutes use local sunset, computed on the device.

STEP 03

Export the permit log

Watch the total and night hours against your state's requirement. When you are ready, export a PDF to print or show at the DMV.

Who it's for

The learner, the parent, and the parent who doesn't want a tracker

One log on the phone. No account for anyone in the car.

Learner drivers

You need a running total of supervised hours, including night hours, before the road test. DriveMint keeps that log without making you create an account.

Parents keeping the log

Log a drive from the passenger seat, pass it to your teen with a QR code, and see what is left against your state's hour requirement.

Parents who don't want a tracker

Some driving-log apps score braking, keep cloud accounts, and need location set to Always. DriveMint does not. Hours stay on the phone. GPS is optional, and raw coordinates are not saved.

FAQ

Learner permit driving log questions

Hours, night driving, PDF logs, and why the data never leaves your phone.

What app tracks supervised driving hours for a learner's permit?
DriveMint is a private driving log app for learner permit hours. It records supervised sessions, splits night driving from daytime, can log distance with optional GPS, and exports a PDF for the DMV. There is no account and no cloud.
Do I need an account to use a driving log app?
Not with DriveMint. There is no signup and no login. You install the app and start a drive. Other permit-log apps ask the student and the supervising parent to each create an account and link them by email.
Where does DriveMint store driving data?
On the phone, in a local database. Sessions, supervisor names, and permit details never go to our servers. If you share a drive, it is encoded in a QR code on the screen and scanned by the other device. GPS, if you turn it on, is used only to compute distance; raw coordinates are not kept.

Does DriveMint work offline?
Yes. Driving sessions, optional distance, and supervisor data are stored on the device. You do not need cell service or Wi-Fi to log a drive, and the log is never sent to a DriveMint server.
How do I track driving practice hours with DriveMint?
Tap Start when practice begins. DriveMint logs time, and distance if GPS is on. You can assign a supervisor, add notes, and tag conditions. When you stop, the session is saved to the driving log and counts toward your state's required hours.
How many practice hours do I need for my driver's license?
It depends on the state. Most require 50 hours of supervised driving, with 10 of those at night. North Carolina requires 60 hours, 10 at night. DriveMint includes each state's totals so you can see what is left.

North Carolina's 60-hour requirement

Can I export my driving log as a PDF for the DMV?
Yes. DriveMint generates a PDF of the full log: total hours, night hours, a per-session breakdown, and supervisor details where you entered them. You can print it or show it on a phone. North Carolina DMV accepts digital and printed driving logs for the Level 2 road test.
Is DriveMint a RoadReady alternative?
It can be, if you want a permit log that does not require accounts or cloud storage. We built DriveMint after RoadReady would not install on our phones. We only list facts you can check on their site and ours.

Compare DriveMint and RoadReady

Is DriveMint free?
Yes. DriveMint is free to download and use, with no ads and no subscription. An optional Pro version for driving instructors unlocks extra features with a one-time $2.99 in-app purchase.
